Interstitial cystitis, is a chronic inflammatory disease of the bladder of unknown etiology characterized by urinary frequency, urgency, nocturia and suprapubic pain. The syndrome presents differently in many patients, with the unifying factor being chronic pelvic pain and disruption of daily life activities. Although there are abundance of theories, the etiology of the condition remains unclear. This review focuses on recently published literature on the epidemiology, etiology, diagnosis and treatment of interstitial cystitis. 

İnterstisyel Sistit: Kronik Pelvik Ağrı Sendromu

İnterstisyel sistit sık idrar yapma, urgency, noktüri ve suprapubik ağrı ile karakterize olan mesanenin etyolojisi bilinmeyen kronik inflamatuar bir hastalığıdır. Bu sendrom bir çok hastada farklı bir sekilde ortaya çıkmasına rağmen, kronik pelvik ağrı ve günlük aktivitelerin kısıtlanması hastalığın değişmeyen bulgularıdır. Etyolojisini açıklamaya yönelik bir çok teori ileri sürülmesine rağmen bu konu halen tam olarak aydınlatılabilmiş değildir. Bu derleme interstisyel sistitin epidemiyolojisi, etyolojisi, teşhisi ve tedavisi ile ilgili olan son gelişmeleri içermektedir.
